Hispanic Homeowners in America
-Hemant G.
Today severe housing crises are being faced by the Hispanic homeowners and other minorities living in America. According to a recent study made by Esperanza USA the Hispanics pay about more than half of their annual income towards housing expenses than the white community and they also have to face a high rate interest when applying for housing loans. Esperanza, the largest corporation in the country working for the benefits of the Hispanics is totally involved in fulfilling the housing need of the Hispanics and also in creating the necessary infrastructure.
All homebuyers have to face some challenges when they are planning to purchase a house but these challenges are numerous in case of the Hispanics According to the study made by the Esperanza since 1993 the number of mortgages approved for the Hispanics has increased roughly about 236 percent but still today the rate of mortgages approved for the Hispanics today is less than those approved for the non Hispanics. Apart from this difference the Hispanics have a very low level of income and most of the Hispanic population is concentrated in the expensive urban housing areas like the New York City etc.
Fortunately for the Hispanics there are various enterprises and institutions sponsored by the government who are working to provide affordable home ownership to such people and minorities. Examples of such enterprises are Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Also the secondary markets are being created to free up the capital in banks so as more money is available to provide as loan. Although the percentage of loans available for the people belonging to low income group is minute, still as the capital increases the funds available for loans increases and thus loan available for low income minorities also increases.
Hispanics across America (HAA) is another non profit organization founded by Mr. Mateo in 2002 to serve as an advocate for the Hispanics living in America. The main aim of this organization is to look after the educational, social and economical interests of the Hispanics community throughout America. Whether it is about homeownership or acquiring workshops the HAA has a major goal of improving the standard of living of the Hispanic Community throughout America by effectively utilizing the rights granted by the constitution of USA.
There are approximately 7.6 million Hispanic households in America and they still are facing a lot of difficulties in having a decent standard of living. Many institutions are working to provide equal rights to the Hispanics and to eliminate the discrimination between blacks and whites.
